MONTREAL – Kevin Donovan of
Bethany, Conn., and Victoria Muccilli of
Mississauga, Ont., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, for the period ending Oct. 6, 2013, 2013.
Donovan, a 6-foot-2 attacker with the undefeated men's lacrosse team, scored 10 points, including six goals in two weekend victories. The 24-year-old is a first-year continuing education student at McGill after graduating from Lehigh University. He tallied five goals and added a pair of helpers in a 14-8 home victory over Queen's on Sunday, to go along with a goal and two assists in a 16-3 conquest at Carleton, Friday. Donovan leads the league in goals with a whopping 24 in only seven games.
Muccilli, a 5-foot-9 goaltender with the soccer Martlets, kicked aside all seven shots faced and posted back-to-back shutouts as McGill tied division-leading Montreal 0-0 and blanked third-place Sherbrooke 3-0 to move into sole possession of third on Sunday.
The 20-year-old history senior has a 4-1-2 record in seven starts. She leads the league in goals-against average (0.31), shutouts (4) and minutes played (578). Prior to enrolling at McGill, she played for Holy Name of Mary Catholic secondary school.
Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
