Victoria Iannotti of St. Laurent, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending, Oct. 23, 2022.
Rachman, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound third-baseman, registered a lofty .800 batting average, while hitting a home run and a double, as the McGill Redbirds baseball team swept a doubleheader over Concordia on Saturday, to capture the Quebec best-of-three final series at Gary Carter Field. The 21-year-old microbiology and immunology senior batted 4-for-5 at the plate, with a walk, one hit-by-pitch, a pair of runs batted in and three runs scored. In the field, he had two put-outs and assisted on two others. A product of the White Rock Tritons of the British Columbia Pacific Baseball League, he graduated from high school at Vancouver College before enrolling at McGill in 2019.
Iannotti, a 5-foot-9 power-hitter on the Martlets volleyball squad, posted a masterful performance with 23.5 points as McGill defeated the Montreal Carabins 3-1 in the RSEQ regular season home opener last Friday. A 23-year-old software engineering senior, she registered her points on the strength of 18 kills and 5.5 stuff blocks over her four sets, to go along with a game-high 11 digs on defence. Iannotti, a co-captain this season, played CEGEP ball at College Bois-de-Boulogne before enrolling at McGill in 2019.
