Connor Goodwin from New Westminster, B.C., and
Audrey-Ann Coughlan of Longueuil, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Sept. 20, 2015.
Goodwin, 6-foot-1, 210-pound midfielder with the lacrosse Redmen, scored 18 points, including 11 goals in three road victories last week as McGill extended their win streak to 31 consecutive games in league play. The 21-year-old electrical engineering senior registered hat-tricks in all three contests, including back-to-back four-goal games as McGill posted a 17-7 win at Carleton (Sept. 16), a 16-10 decision at Queen’s (Sept. 19) and a 12-7 conquest at Trent in Peterborough (Sept. 20). Goodwin is a product of New Westminster high school.
Coughlan, a 5-foot-6 forward with the soccer Martlets, scored five goals in two weekend road victories, netting the game-winner and meriting game MVP honours in both contests. The 20-year-old science sophomore who is majoring in kinesiology, registered a hat-trick in Sunday’s 4-1 win at UQAM and tallied twice in a 3-0 conquest at UQTR last Friday. A member of the Quebec provincial team, she joined McGill last year after graduating from Champlain College.
