William Rouleau of St. Basile de Portneuf, Que., and
Victoria Iannotti of St. Laurent, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 19, 2023.
Rouleau, a six-foot, 166-pound centre with the Redbirds hockey team, scored six points in two games, leading McGill to a 4-2 win at Laurier last Friday and a 6-5 overtime decision at Waterloo on Saturday. The 22-year-old management sophomore had two assists in the victory at Laurier, followed by two goals and a pair of helpers in the win over Waterloo. Rouleau currently leads the team in scoring with 21 points, including seven goals, in 18 games overall. He enrolled at McGill last year after playing five seasons in the QMHJL with Rouyn-Noranda and Chicoutimi.
Iannotti, a 5-foot-9 power-hitter, scored a career-high 29 points as the Martlets volleyball team came from behind for a 3-2 victory over UQAM last Friday. She tallied a career-high 24 kills, with a pair of service aces, two stuff blocks and two assisted blocks. The 24-year-old software engineering senior added 10 digs and an assist. The performance gave her 524 career kills in regular season play, joining five other McGillians in the 500 club. A co-captain with the Martlets, Iannotti played her CEGEP volleyball at College Bois-de-Boulogne before joining the university ranks in 2019.
