MONTREAL – Pablo Collin a native of Marseille, France, and Audrey Trottier of Longueuil, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending, Jan. 22, 2023.

Collin, a 21-year-old computer science sophomore, was named swimmer of the meet as the McGill Redbirds finished first of six schools in the fourth leg of the RSEQ University Cup series in Quebec City last Friday. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound freestyle specialist won two golds and one silver, while registering a meet-high 563 points on the FINA scoring scale.  He finished first in the 200-metre freestyle (1:53.44), his first-ever win in this event at the collegiate level and it was registered as the top swim of the meet, based on FINA points. Collin also swam the third leg of the winning 4x100m freestyle relay (3:28.77). His silver medal performance was in the grueling 1500m free (16:30.14) and he also finished sixth in the 50m free (24.41).

Trottier, a 5-foot-9 setter on the Martlets volleyball team, registered 54 assists and 14 digs in seven sets as McGill swept Ottawa 3-0 and edged Montreal 3-1 over the weekend to create a three-way tie atop the RSEQ conference standings with UQAM (9-4) and the Carabins (9-4). A 23-year-old physical therapy senior who returned after graduating last spring with a degree in kinesiology, Trottier added seven assisted blocks and three kills for an all-round stellar performance. She quarterbacked the team to produce 76 kills in the two games, distributed over eight different players as the Martlets registered an above average 27.3 percent hitting efficiency on 220 kill attempts. McGill leads the league this season with a 22.6 per cent efficiency. Trottier enrolled at the University in 2019 out of College Lionel-Groulx.
