Connor Goodwin of New Westminster, B.C., and
Gabrielle Davidson of Pte. Claire, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Nov. 9, 2014.
Goodwin, 6-foot-1, 175-pound all-star midfielder with the Redmen, scored nine points, including six goals, in two games last weekend, helping McGill finish second at the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association championship in Oshawa. The 21-year-old electrical engineering senior scored four goals and added a pair of assists as McGill defeated Western 15-6 in a sudden-death semifinal last Saturday. He added two more markers and an assist in a 15-11 loss to Guelph during Sunday's gold medal game. A co-captain with the Redmen, Goodwin attended New Westminster secondary school prior to enrolling at McGill and recently signed a contract with the Calgary Roughnecks in the National Lacrosse League, the premier box lacrosse league in North America.
Davidson, a 5-foot-4 forward with the hockey Martlets, scored four points, including three goals in two games last week. The 21-year-old finance junior tallied all of her points, including the game-winner in a 7-0 victory at Carleton, Sunday. A product of Dawson College, she scored the first three goals of the game and assisted on the fourth goal.
Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
