BOSTON, MASS –
Samuel Hepworth of the McGill men's track and field team broke a school record at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Friday, in the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
The 20-year-old psychology sophomore from Montreal completed the men's 1,000-metre race in two minutes and 22 seconds flat to qualify for the U SPORTS national championship in Windsor, Mar. 6-8.
It currently ranks as the fastest U SPORTS time in the country this season and surpassed the McGill mark of 2:24.76 set by
Mattthew Beaudet at the McGill Team Challenge on Jan. 27, 2023. It also broke the Quebec provincial under-23 record (2:22.7) set in 2012 by
Jean-Samuel Lapointe.
