MONTREAL – Lefika Noko, a native of Geneva, Switzerland, and Evelyne Desmarais from Candiac, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, presented by Restaurant Poulet Rouge, for the period ending Oct. 5, 2025.

Noko, a 19-year-old international management junior, scored three goals and added an assist for the men's soccer team, which swept a pair of key games over the weekend, winning 3-0 at UQAM and 5-0 over visiting Concordia. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound striker was named player of the game in the win at UQAM last Friday after scoring twice, including the winning tally, and adding an assist. Two days later, in the victory over Concordia, he scored once and assisted on another. Noko enrolled at McGill in 2023 from the Halifax Grammar School.

Desmarais, a 21-year-old investment management sophomore, registered a game-high 13 points and had the winning try on the last play of the game, as the women's rugby team rallied from a 21-point deficit for a spectacular 38-35 victory over visiting Bishop's last Saturday. The 5-foot-6 flanker finished with two tries and four conversions in the contest, which was played at Percival Molson Stadium. The result snapped a 16-game losing streak for the Martlets dating back to 2023. A product of College Brébeuf, Desmarais enrolled at McGill in 2024.

McGill athlete of the week award recipients receive a gift certificate from Poulet Rouge, serving healthy and nutritious meals since 2017. All students can get a 15% discount at the Poulet Rouge McGill location upon presentation of their student ID card.

MONTRÉAL – Lefika Noko, originaire de Genève, en Suisse, et Évelyne Desmarais, de Candiac, au Québec, sont les athlètes de la semaine à l'Université McGill, présentés par le restaurant Poulet Rouge, pour la période se terminant le 5 octobre 2025.

Noko, un junior de 19 ans en gestion internationale, a marqué trois buts et ajouté une passe décisive pour l'équipe masculine de soccer, qui a remporté deux matchs importants au cours du week-end, s'imposant 3-0 à l'UQAM et 5-0 contre Concordia. L'attaquant de 1,93 m et 77 kg a été nommé joueur du match lors de la victoire à l'UQAM vendredi dernier après avoir marqué deux buts, dont celui de la victoire, et ajouté une passe décisive. Deux jours plus tard, lors de la victoire contre Concordia, il a marqué un but et ajouté une passe décisive. Noko s'est inscrit à McGill en 2023 après avoir fréquenté la Halifax Grammar School.

Desmarais, une étudiante de deuxième année en gestion des investissements âgée de 21 ans, a inscrit 13 points, le meilleur total de la rencontre, et a marqué l'essai de la victoire lors de la dernière action du match, alors que l'équipe féminine de rugby a remonté un déficit de 21 points pour s'imposer de manière spectaculaire 38-35 face à Bishop's samedi dernier.
