WINNIPEG, MAN –
Donna Ntambue won a bronze medal and guided the McGill women's track and field relay squad to a school record at the U SPORTS national championships, hosted by the University of Manitoba at the James Daly Fieldhouse, March 7-9.

A 23-year-old Hispanic studies sophomore from Montreal, Ntambue finished third in the elite 60-metre sprint, crossing the finish line in 7.37 seconds, a fraction shy of her school record 7.32 set earlier this season. It was the Martlets lone medal at the meet. Laval's
Audrey Leduc, the RSEQ champion, won the race in 7.26 and Western's
Vivian Ogor, the OUA champion, settled for silver in 7.33.
Ntambue also ran leadoff on the record-breaking 4x200 relay, which finished seventh in 1:39.70, to erase the previous school best of 1:41.18 set last year at McGill's Tomlinson Fieldhouse. She handed off the baton to newcomer
Felicitas Zahlbruckner, an exchange student from the Austrian town of Graz, who was followed by
Audrey Gilmour, a sustainability science junior from Ottawa, and
Bethany Walton-Knight, a third-year physics major from North Vancouver, B.C.
McGill's previous record-holding foursome was composed of Ntambue and Walton-Knight, along with
Lola Ross-McLennan and
Vanessa Lu Langley.
Guelph finished first of 25 teams to capture a sixth consecutive women's banner with 115.2 points. Also finishing on the podium was Western (102.3) and Calgary (87). Laval, the RSEQ champion, was the top Quebec team and finished fifth (56.5). Others RSEQ schools in the scoring included Sherbrooke (13th, 14 pts) and McGill (16th, 8 pts).
Calgary's
Sienna MacDonald was named female athlete of the year, based on her performance at the meet, with a triple-golden performance.
Gold medalists earn first-team All-Canadian status, while silver medalists merit second-team honours.
