MONTREAL –
Roxane Carrière has been appointed manager of the Women In Sports program at McGill Athletics and Recreation.
She earned a BA from McGill in 2012, majoring in psychology, followed by a master's degree in physical activity from the Université de Montréal (2016) and a PhD from Laval in psychopedagogy (2023). She brings seven years of experience in research, education and applied sport psychology.
"We are very pleased to have Roxane join our team and steward our Women In Sports initiative," said
Daniel Méthot, director of sports programs. "She brings a wealth of experience as a mental performance consultant and her experience in collaborating with many stakeholders over the last few years will certainly help steer this program and our women's teams to reach new heights."
Carrière replaces
Sylvie Béliveau who recently stepped down from the post to accept a new opportunity at Égale Action, a Quebec-based organization dedicated to the participation and advancement of girls and women in sport and physical activity.
McGill's Women In Sports initiative is the result of a $3.5 million gift from benefactors
Sheryl Kerr, BCom '67, and
David Kerr, BSc '65. The program aims to advance the role of women as athletes, coaches and decision-makers by increasing the number of full-time female coaches and helping female athletes become future leaders.
