MONTREAL – Elizabeth Ling, a McGill swimmer from Calgary, Alta., and Grégory David, a soccer player from UQAM, are the RSEQ university athletes of the week, sponsored by Go Pure, for the period ending Oct. 8, 2023.
 
Ling, a 21-year-old civil engineering senior, was named female athlete of the meet after winning three gold medals and one silver as McGill finished first of six women's teams at the season-opening RSEQ University Cup swim meet in Trois-Rivières, Que., last Friday. The 5-foot-4 sprinter won the 50-metre butterfly (27.58 seconds) and the 100m free (56.98), in addition to helping the 4x50m freestyle relay finish atop the podium (1:45.29). Her silver medal performance was in the 50m backstroke, where she posted a time of 28.83 seconds, just fractions of a second behind the winning time (28.78). She is a product of Westmount Charter School in Calgary.

David, a 24-year-old native of Ste. Julie, Que., scored three goals in UQAM's 4-0 victory over visiting Concordia on Oct. 6.

Student-athletes from McGill have now won four RSEQ weekly awards, including rugby players Matrin Laval (Sept. 12) and Lauren Minns (Sept. 5), in addition to football's Brandon Ciccarello (Sept. 5).

À la suite de la 6e semaine de la saison 2023-2024 du secteur universitaire, le RSEQ annonce la sélection de ses 2 étoiles présentées par Go Pure : Elizabeth Ling (natation) de l'Université McGill et Grégory David (Soccer) de l'Université du Québec à Montréal.

Elizabeth Ling, 21 ans, étudiante en génie civil à Calgary, a été nommée athlète féminine de la rencontre après avoir remporté trois médailles d'or et une d'argent, alors que McGill a terminé première des six équipes féminines à la Coupe universitaire de natation du RSEQ qui a ouvert la saison à Trois-Rivières, au Québec, vendredi dernier. La sprinteuse de 5 pieds 4 pouces a remporté le 50 mètres papillon (27,58 secondes) et le 100 mètres libre (56,98), en plus d'aider le relais 4x50 mètres style libre à terminer sur la plus haute marche du podium (1:45,29). Elle est un produit de la Westmount Charter School de Calgary.

Grégory David, avec trois buts contre Concordia. Il a fait une prestation de grande qualité, tant sur son rayonnement sur l'organisation du jeu que sur les réalisations. Il est l'auteur de trois buts et trône en première place au niveau des buteurs de la ligue avec 7 buts au total.
