SHERBROOKE –
Chloe Fleurent-Gregoire and
Jorden Savoury each posted gold and silver-medal finishes to pace the McGill women's track and field team at the Vert & Or Invitational, a two-day meet hosted by the Universite de Sherbrooke over the weekend.
It was only the second competition of the pandemic-marred indoor season for the McGill program, which hadn't competed since the Martlet Classic Meet on Nov. 27.
The McGill women produced seven podium finishes, including a pair of golds, two silvers and three bronzes.
Asad Bilal of Hatboro, Penn., led the McGill men's side, with gold and silver medal finishes as the Redbirds collected two relay golds, along with a silver and three bronzes.
Fleurent-Gregoire, a 5-foot-5 distance runner from Laval, Que., won the women's 1500-metre race in four minutes, 58 seconds flat. The master's student in nutritional science registered her second-place finish in the 3,000m, which was completed in 3:10.41.
Savoury, a star sprinter from LaSalle, Que., ran the leadoff leg of the winning 4x200m relay, which was timed in 1:45.54. The psychology senior finished second in the 60m sprint, crossing the finish line in 7.59 seconds, which was just off her team record 7.50 set in the first semester.
Bilal, an agricultural and environmental science freshman, finished second in the 60m hurdles, posting a time of 8.98 seconds. He also anchored the winning 4x200m, which was clocked in 1:36.23.
Joining Bilal in that quartet was senior
Diego Dorantes-Ferreira of Pte. Claire, Que., in the leadoff spot, followed by
Jonas Schweiger, a first-year exchange student from Switzerland, and
Jeremi Kolakowski, a sophomore from Toronto.
The victorious 4x800 relay, which crossed the line in 7:50.21, was composed of junior

A.J. Bimm, a native of Brampton, Ont., who transferred from U of T to do a master's degree in Urban Planning.
