NCAA's Catamounts next on deck for Redmen in cross-border hoops action

BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont men's basketball team will get a jump on the 2018-19 season in Montréal this weekend with three games in three days. All returning players in addition to UVM's incoming freshmen class will be able to play during the trip.

The Catamounts will play Ottawa at College Brebeuf on Aug. 10, on the northern slope of Mt. Royal, before heading to the southern slope for games at UQAM and at McGill.

The Redmen are in their 118th season and this upcoming rendezvous will be their fourth of seven games against NCAA teams. The defending Quebec conference champions opened their preseason calendar on Aug. 5 with a 102-61 loss to Mississippi, followed by setbacks against against Cincinnati (79-53) and South Dakota State (76-69). They will also be crossing paths with Duke on Aug. 19 at Place Bell in Laval, Que. Other NCAA opponents on the schedule are road games against the Maine Black Bears (Oct. 28) and Harvard Crimson (Jan. 6).

McGill, slated for 30 contests before playoffs, opens the Canadian portion of their preseason calendar on Oct. 5 against the host Badgers at the Brock Invitational tournament in St. Catharines, Ont.
