MONTREAL --  Alex Tessier scored 21 points and Jenna Thompson added 20 more as Concordia skunked McGill 85-0 in their RSEQ women's rugby season opener before a crowd of 281 at Percival Molson Stadium, Monday.

The Stingers, who fell to Ottawa in the Quebec league final last season, led 45-0 at halftime and finished with 13 tries to go along with 10 conversions.

"It was an extremely rough start but we had to start somewhere," said new McGill bench boss Magali Harvey, the reknown Canadian national team player who was making her coaching debut in the university ranks. "Now we move on and we learn from this loss."

Tessier tallied one try and 10 conversions, while Thompson racked up four tries. Rounding out the scoring was Fred Rajotte with three tries and Mel Wood with a pair. Single tries were added by Emilie Belanger, Karen Gervais and Emily Kyte.

Next weekend, Concordia (1-0) travels to the nation's capital on Sept. 9 to play the defending conference champion Ottawa Gee-Gees (0-1), while McGill (0-1) plays host to Laval (1-0) at Molson Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
