Martlet ruggers rolled over in Sherbrooke

SHERBROOKE, Que. -- Camille Bergeron and Marie-Pier Fauteux each registered 15 points as Sherbrooke defeated the Martlets 45-5 in RSEQ women's rugby, Sunday, at Stade de Sherbrooke.

The Vert et Or led 28-5 at halftime before shutting out their guests 17-0 in the second half.

Bergeron, who was named as the Sherbrooke game MVP, scored three tries in the contest, all in the first half, while Fauteux was successful on all six conversions and added a penalty kick. Other scorers for the host team were Catherine Lebrasseur, Camille Sasseville and Andi Smith.

Nicole Deacon, a 5-foot-9 centre from Barrie, Ont., scored a try for the Martlets in the 36th minute. McGill's Game MVP was Dana Silerova of Terrasse Vaudreuil, Que.

The Martlets (0-3) next visit Ottawa (2-1) on Saturday, Sept. 23, while Sherbrooke (2-1) hosts Carleton (2-1) on Sept. 24.
