MONTREAL – A late summer Canadian version of "March Madness" will be featured at McGill University again this August when the defending RSEQ champion basketball Redmen play 10 preseason games against NCAA teams, including four to be contested in Costa Rica.
The tour of visiting U.S. teams begins Aug. 7 when the Alabama Crimson Tide will visit Love Competition Hall, located inside the Currie Gym at 475 Pine Avenue West. Other visiting teams that week include the Southern Methodist Mustangs (Aug. 8) and Towson Tigers (Aug. 10). Then the Redmen will fly to Costa Rica to play Kent State (Aug. 14), and the Lamar Cardinals (Aug. 15), followed by back-to-back games against the University of Texas at El Paso Miners (Aug. 16-17). The cross-border confrontations return to McGill in late August against the St. Francis College Terriers (Aug. 28), Siena Saints (Aug. 30) and Hofstra Pride (Sept. 2).
Advance tickets will be available online in early August.
Last year, the Redmen registered a 24-11 record overall, including a 2-4 mark against NCAA programs, with victories over Florida A&M (Aug. 16) and Farleigh Dickinson (Aug. 20).
