LENNOXVILLE, Que. --
Alexandra Robb and
Rachel Spencer scored two tries apiece as McGill defeated the Bishop's Gaiters 42-10 in RSEQ women's rugby to spoil Homecoming at Coulter Field on Friday.
It was the first victory of the season for the Martlets and put an end to a four-game losing streak dating back to a 36-7 win over Bishop's on Oct. 15, 2015. For the Gaiters, it was their 44th consecutive loss, a long-standing streak which began after a 42-5 road victory at Sherbrooke on Oct. 18, 2009.
McGill led 15-0 at halftime thanks to three unconverted tries, including one each from Robb and Spencer.
Victoria Kwok, a freshman from Île-Bizard, Que., opened the scoring with a try in the ninth minute. Spencer, a five-foot physical education senior from Ottawa, scored her first try in the 13th minute, and Robb, a science junior from North Hatley, Que., added another in the 21st minute.
Bishop's
Quinsea McKenna put her team on the board in the 46th minute to begin the second half. The Gaiters added a second try in the 78th minute, courtesy of

McGill's other tries came from
Isobel DeMont of New Glasgow, N.S.,
Michelle Blair of Ormstown, Que., and
Dana Silerova of Terrasse Vaudreuil, Que. Blair, a 5-foot-4 centre, also successfully converted Spencer's second try in the 70th minute, to finish with seven points.
Bishop's (0-4-0) next visits Laval (2-1-0) on Oct. 1. The Martlets (1-3-0) will host Montreal (1-2-0) at McEwen Field in Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue on Oct. 2.
