Bourque hits double-double as Redmen take Waterloo at Jack Donohiue tourney opener

OTTAWA -- Francois Bourque recorded a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds as McGill erased a 14-point deficit to defeat Waterloo 84-70 on the first day of competition at the annual men's basketball Jack Donohue Tournament at Montpetit Hall, Friday.

McGill trailed Waterloo 40-26 at halftime before storming back with a 27-10 third quarter and continued to roll with 30 points in the final stanza to claim an 84-70 victory. Waterloo's Nedim Hodzic led the Warriors with 18 points. 

In the tournament opener, Concordia distanced itself from Toronto in the second quarter and didn't look back, closing out a 79-63 win. The Stingers rode the 19-point performance of Nicholas Noble which included 5-6 shooting from three-point range. 

The Gee-Gees team rolled to an 89-56 victory over the Bishop's Gaiters to close out the first day of competition. For Ottawa, Adam Presutti made his first appearance in garnet and grey and led the team with 17 points including 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. The Oakville, Ont. product added four assists and five rebounds in his 24 minutes of court time, and helped Jean Emmanuel Pierre-Charles, Caleb Agada, and Matt Plunkett to all finish in double-digit scoring.

The tournament continues Saturday under its new format of Ontario teams taking on Quebec teams and after Day 1 the RSEQ has the upper hand.
