STE. ANNE DE BELLEVUE, Que. --
Rachel Spencer of Ottawa scored McGill's only try as the Martlets fell 13-5 to the visiting Montreal Carabins in a low-scoring affair at McEwen Field, Sunday.
It was just the second-ever victory for UdeM over McGill in five lifetime meetings -- since UdeM joined the Quebec conference in 2012.
Montreal led 5-0 at halftime after a try in the 36th minute.
Spencer, a 5-foot physical education sophomore, scored her try in the 58th minute to open second-half scoring, before the Carabins added a try in the 71st minute.
Audrey Busque and
Sabrina Poulin were the try-scorers for the Montreal.
Anaïs Holly added a rare drop-kick goal in injury time to seal the victory for the visitors.
Both teams return to the pitch on Oct. 7, when the Carabins (3-2-0) host Concordia (3-2-0) and McGill (1-4-0) visits Laval (4-1-0).
