MONTREAL -- Former National Basketball Association great Dikembe Mutombo will be at the McGill University Sports Complex on Saturday (Dec. 5) to help create awareness for the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend, scheduled to be hosted by the Toronto Raptors, Feb. 13-14.

This week's event, known as the Bell NBA All-Star Challenge, presented by AIR MILES, will be incorporated as part of the Laval-McGill men's basketball game on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Love Competition Hall, located at 475 Pine Avenue W. The undefeated Redmen are ranked No.3 in Canada and lead the RSEQ conference with a 3-0 record, while Laval sits fourth at 1-2. At halftime, some NBA legends will be on hand to coordinate contests and prizes, along with a show by the Denver Nuggets Dance Pack. Tickets for fans at the door are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, Admission is free for children aged 12 and under. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Redbird Sports Shop located in the McGill Sports Centre, 475 Pine Ave. West, (514-398-1539).

That game will be preceded by a regional contest, open to the public, at the Currie gym from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to determine the best three-point shooters, skills challenge competitors and dunkers in Montreal. The winner of the competition will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to compete for a national title at the 65th annual NBA All-Star game.
