MONTREAL -- Former National Basketball Association great
Dikembe Mutombo will be at the McGill University Sports Complex on Saturday (Dec. 5) to help create awareness for the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend, scheduled to be hosted by the Toronto Raptors, Feb. 13-14.
This week's event, known as the Bell NBA All-Star Challenge, presented by AIR MILES, will be incorporated as part of the Laval-McGill men's basketball game on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Love Competition Hall, located at 475 Pine Avenue W. The undefeated Redmen are ranked No.3 in Canada and lead the RSEQ conference with a 3-0 record, while Laval sits fourth at 1-2. At halftime, some NBA legends will be on hand to coordinate contests and prizes, along with a show by the Denver Nuggets Dance Pack. That game will be preceded by a regional contest, open to the public, at the Currie gym from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to determine the best three-point shooters, skills challenge competitors and dunkers in Montreal. The winner of the competition will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to compete for a national title at the 65th annual NBA All-Star game.
