OTTAWA -- Irene Patrinos of Mississauga scored 30 points and Danielle Erdelyi of Chesterville, Ont., added 20 more with four tries, as the heavily-favoured and No.2-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees overwhelmed McGill 80-0 in the RSEQ regular-season finale on Sunday at the Matt Anthony Field in in the nation's capital.

Ottawa, which finished atop the RSEQ standings with a perfect 7-0 record for the second consecutive season, took control from the outset with a pair of tries in the first seven minutes by Simone Savary.

Erdelyi and Ashley Strike each added tries to give the Gee-Gees a 26-0 lead by halftime.

Ottawa racked up another eight tries In the second half, including four by Erdelyi and two apiece by Savary and Patrinos, the latter who made a whopping 10 of 12 conversion attempts in the contest.

A young Martlets squad, caught in a rebuilding year, finished fifth in the eight-team RSEQ conference with a 3-4 record, two points in arrears of the Montreal Carabins, who grabbed the fourth and final playoff berth and will meet league-leading Ottawa (7-0) in one semifinal. The other semi will feature second-place Concordia (6-1) hosting third-place Laval (5-2).

The Martlets are expected to lose six seniors to graduation, including scoring leader Caroline Suchorski, a nutritional science major from Kirkland, Que and Erica Saabas, a physical education student from Hamilton, Ont. Other veterans who wil be missed include Hsiang Chou (pharmacology), Bianca Della Porta (human relations & family life), Katrine Lightstone (accounting) and Kayley Walsh (Master's in physical therapy).
