MONTREAL – After a two-week hiatus, the McGill University men's and women's varsity basketball teams return to action this week and will battle the Concordia Stingers in a home-and-home series, scheduled for
Thursday (Jan. 23) at the Loyola campus gym and
Saturday (Jan. 25) at Love Competition Hall.
The women tip-off at 6 p.m. eastern both nights, followed by the men at 8 p.m.
In women's action, the sixth-ranked Martlets lead the RSEQ conference standings with a 6-0 record, while No.8 Concordia sits third at 5-3.The cross-town rivals have met only once this season, with the Martlets prevailing 44-34 at home. Saturday's affair at McGill will be their annual "Shoot for the Cure" game, with net proceeds going to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. Last year's fundraiser raised $1,500.
On the men's side, the No.7 Redmen are tied with Bishop's atop the RSEQ standings. Both teams have identical 5-1 records. The Stingers are in third place with a 5-3 record and they lost 80-62 in their only previous meeting with the Redmen.
