STE. ANNE DE BELLEVUE, Que. –
Deanna Foster, a sophomore fullback from Caledon, Ont., and
Emily Barber of Fenelon Falls ., Ont., scored six and four tries, respectively, and
Brianna Miller added 29 points as McGill battered Bishop's 109-5 in RSEQ women's rugby action at McEwen Field in suburban Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Sunday.
It was McGill's highest offensive output since a lopsided 109-0 conquest over the Gaiters on Oct. 15, 2011 and marked the 10th time in school history that the Martlets had reached the 100-point plateau.
Miller, a senior from Pte. Claire, Que., scored one try and converted a dozen others, one shy of the single-game conference record for most conversions, set by McGill's
Sandra Simpson in 2005 and matched by Miller in 2011.

Bianca Della Porta of Dorval, Que., and freshman
Katrine Lightstone of Ottawa each added a pair of tries. Rounding out the scoring for the Martlets, with one try apiece, was
Caroline Suchorski of Kirkland, Que., and Montrealer
Susanna Beaudin.
Andi Smith registered the lone try for Bishop's, which had been shutout in each of their first four games. The last-place Gaiters dropped to 0-5 and will host second-place Ottawa (4-1) on Oct. 4.
McGill, which improved to 4-1 and is tied with the Gee-Gees in the standings, will host fourth-place Laval (3-2) on Oct. 6 at McEwen Field.
MARTLET MURMURS: The Martlets currently lead the league in both offence and defence, averaging 48.2 points for and 9.2 points against per game… The last time that the Martlets tallied more than 109 points was a 116-0 slam-dunk over Sherbrooke on Sept. 25, 2005. The team's single-game scoring record was a 141-0 shutout over Sherbrooke on Sept. 29, 2002.
