MONTREAL -- Three different players scored tries as fourth-ranked Concordia remained undefeated and stretched their win streak to three with a 17-15 victory over No.7 McGill in women's university rugby action, Wednesday, to capture the Drummond Cup game at Molson Stadium.
The result improved Concordia's record to 5-4 in the annual fundraiser between the cross-town rivals, named in memory of the late Kelly-Anne Drummond, a former Concordia player and a victim of domestic violence who tragically lost her life in 2004. Donations at Wednesday's game raised $1,824 for WomenAWARE, a Montreal-based organization that supports victims of domestic abuse.
Audrey Marcotte, a second-year medical student from Chateauguay, Que., put McGill on the scoreboard early with an unconverted try in the fourth minute of play. The Stingers rallied for a 12-5 lead on tries by Kelsey Martin of Pierrefonds, Que., in the eighth minute, and Sarah Scanlon (22nd minute) of St. Bruno, Que. The first try was converted by Alexandra Ste. Marie of Pte. Claire, Que.

Brianna Miller, also from Pte. Claire, tied the score at 12-12 in the final minute of the first half, scoring a try and making the conversion.
With 23 minutes remaining in the contest, Concordia sophomore Sabre Lee of Collingwood, Ont., broke through for the winning try to give the Stingers a 17-12 lead. McGill narrowed the gap to 17-15 four minutes later when Miller connected on a penalty goal but the Martlets ran out of time. Miller, an all-Canadian fly-half who was named league MVP last season, finished with a game-leading 10 points in a losing cause.
Concordia (3-0) moved into a tie with idle Ottawa (3-0) atop the RSEQ standings. McGill, which dropped to 2-1, remained third in the eight-team Quebec conference.
McGill hosts Carleton (1-2) on Saturday (Sept. 21) at 2 p.m. at Molson Stadium, while Concordia plays at Sherbrooke (1-2) on Sept. 22.
