Won 104-12 vs Sherbrooke
STE. ANNE DE BELLEVUE --Brianna Miller of Pte. Claire, Que., racked up 34 points and Casey Thorburn of St. John's, Nfld., added three tries as the McGill women's rugby team smothered Sherbrooke 104-12 in RSEQ conference play at McEwen Field, Sunday.
It was McGill's highest offensive output since a lopsided 109-0 conquest over Bishop's on Oct. 15, 2011. Miller, who registered a pair of tries and 12 conversions, was part of a Martlets offensive onslaught, which amassed a whopping 16 tries in the game.
Also collecting two tries apiece was Emily Barber of Fenelon Falls, Ont., Krista Dunn of New Glascow, N.S., Montrealer Marie-Helene Laforest and Milda Sabiston of Mississauga. Rounding out the scoring with single tries apiece was Erica Saabas of Hamilton, Rachele Rose of St. Laurent, Que., and Meagan Paul, also from Mississauga.
McGill, which has outscored opponents 182-35 over three games, improved to 2-1 league play and sit third behind Laval (3-0) and Concordia (3-0) in the eight team RSEQ conference.
The Martlets play Bishop's (0-3) at Coulter Field in Lennoxville, Que., on Sept. 21.
