MONTREAL –Emilie Matte De Grasse of Montreal and Maxime Murdoch from Westmount, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 23, 2018.

Matte De Grasse, a 5-foot-10 power-hitter, helped the Martlets volleyball team start their preseason with a five-game sweep over RMC, York, College Edouard-Montpetit and Dalhousie (twice) to capture the UQAM Invitational tournament over the weekend.  The 24-year-old physical education senior racked up 56 kills in 20 sets overall, in addition to 15 aces, 58 digs, 1.5 stuff blocks and a 1.71 passing efficiency out of 3.0.  The 24-year-old connected on 30 per cent of her kill attempts and registered a 22 per cent kill efficiency.
 
Murdoch, a co-captain on the lacrosse Redmen, scored six points, including four goals, as McGill defeated Ottawa 17-8 in Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association play at Forbes Field last Thursday. The 21-year-old North American studies senior is now tied for third among league leaders with 12 goals. A 6-foot-4, 220-pound attackman, he also reached the century mark in scoring and now has 105 career points.
