MONTREAL --
Jerome Verrier from Drummondville, Que., and
Myriam Robitaille of Terrebonne, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Nov. 5, 2017.
Verrier, a six-foot, 196-pound forward with the hockey Redmen, earned points on five of McGill's 10 goals scored in a pair of victories last week. The 23-year-old economics junior tallied once and added three helpers in 4-2 victory over UOIT last Saturday, to go along with an assist in a 6-0 whitewash over RMC on Friday. Verrier, who has had National Hockey League tryouts with Winnipeg (2014) and Detroit (2015), currently sits fourth in the OUA scoring race with a 2-10-12 record in 10 games.
Robitaille, a six-foot middle blocker with the volleyball Martlets, scored a team-leading 18 points in a pair of games last week. The 22-year old languages senior registered 13 kills, three service aces, one stuff block and a pair of assisted blocks as McGill bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Montreal last Friday with a 3-0 sweep over UQAM on Sunday.
