MONTREAL –
Lily Rose Chatila of Quebec City and
Maxime Pellerin from Victoriaville, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, presented by
Restaurant Poulet Rouge, for the period ending Nov. 24, 2024.
Chatila, a 5-foot-7 guard on the women's basketball team, scored 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds over two victories, a 66-64 road win over Bishop's last Thursday and a record-breaking 102-45 conquest over UQAM on Saturday. The 21-year-old science sophomore also contributed nine assists, five steals and one block, and averaged 29.5 minutes of court time, while committing only three turnovers. She shot a lofty 50 per cent on her field-goal attempts (12/24), made four of eight shots from three-point range and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw-line. Chatila enrolled at McGill in 2023 out of Dawson College.
Pellerin, a six-foot, 183-pound right winger with the men's hockey team, scored four points in two games over the weekend. The 21-year-old management freshman earned one assist on the insurance goal of a 6-0 home-ice win over second-place Ontario Tech on Saturday. He then added a goal and two helpers in a 6-3 road loss at Carleton on Sunday. With 17 points, including six goals, in 14 regular season games, Pellerin leads McGill, is ranked 11th among OUA scoring leaders and is the top-scoring rookie in the 19-team league. He was recruited to McGill this year from the QMJHL's Victoriaville Tigres, where he tallied 110 goals and 238 points in 282 games.
