Connor Goodwin of New Westminster, B.C., and
Gabrielle Davidson of Pointe Claire, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Sept. 28, 2014.
Goodwin, 6-foot-1, 175-pound attacker with the lacrosse Redmen, scored eight points, including four goals, in two games last week, helping McGill extend their win streak to 8-0 in regular season play. The 20-year-old electrical engineering senior scored the game-winner in an 8-7 road win over third-place Bishop's on Sept. 25. Two days later, he netted a hat-trick and added four assists as McGill routed second-place Carleton. A co-captain with the Redmen, he attended New Westminster secondary school prior to enrolling at McGill.
Davidson, a 5-foot-4 forward with the hockey Martlets, scored five points in two road victories against NCAA teams last week. The 21-year-old finance junior tallied the winning marker and set up two others in a 4-0 shutout over Vermont last Friday. Two days earlier, she added a pair of helpers in a 7-4 win over the St. Lawrence Saints. The product of Dawson College was named Tournament MVP at the CIS championship last spring and has tallied 12 points, including six goals, in McGill's six preseason games to date.
Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
