MONTREAL— Sonia Dunn of Ottawa and Nicolas Germain of Laval, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, presented by Restaurant Poulet Rouge, for the period ending March 22, 2026.
Dunn, a 20-year-old pharmacology junior, won three gold medals and was named athlete of the meet in the Experienced category as the McGill Martlets captured the Canadian University Artistic Swimming League championship last week at Laval's Desjardins Aquatic Centre in Quebec City. She won the solo event, then teamed with Clara Thomas to claim the duet title, before adding a third gold in the team routine with McGill's "Cirque du Soleil" squad.
Germain, a 23-year-old physical and health education senior majoring in kinesiology, posted a 4-2 record to lead McGill at the 2026 YONEX Canadian University/College Badminton Championships in Montreal over the weekend. He reached the quarter-finals in both men's singles and men's doubles as McGill placed eighth in the team competition. In singles, the RSEQ champion opened with straight-set victories over opponents from Laval and Toronto before falling in three games in the quarter-finals. In doubles, Germain also advanced to the quarter-finals, winning in three games in the round of 32 and in straight sets in the round of 16 before losing in straight sets in the quarter-finals.
McGill athlete of the week award recipients receive a gift certificate from Poulet Rouge, which has been serving healthy meals since 2017. Students also receive a 15 per cent discount at the Poulet Rouge McGill location upon presentation of a valid student ID.

MONTRÉAL — Sonia Dunn, d'Ottawa, et Nicolas Germain, de Laval, sont les athlètes de la semaine à l'Université McGill, un honneur présenté par le restaurant Poulet Rouge, pour la période se terminant le 22 mars 2026.
Dunn, une étudiante de troisième année en pharmacologie âgée de 20 ans, a remporté trois médailles d'or et a été nommée athlète de la compétition dans la catégorie Expérimentée, alors que les Martlets de McGill ont remporté le championnat de la Ligue universitaire canadienne de nage artistique la semaine dernière, au Centre aquatique Desjardins de Laval, à Québec.
Elle a gagné l'épreuve en solo, puis a fait équipe avec Clara Thomas pour remporter le titre en duo, avant d'ajouter une troisième médaille d'or à l'épreuve par équipe avec la formation « Cirque du Soleil » de McGill.
Germain, un étudiant de quatrième année en éducation physique et à la santé, spécialisé en kinésiologie, a maintenu une fiche de 4-2 pour mener McGill aux Championnats universitaires et collégiaux canadiens YONEX de badminton, disputés à Montréal durant le week-end.
Il a atteint les quarts de finale en simple masculin et en double masculin, alors que McGill a terminé au huitième rang de la compétition par équipes. En simple, le champion du RSEQ a signé des victoires en deux manches contre des adversaires de Laval et de Toronto avant de s'incliner en trois manches en quarts de finale. En double, Germain a également atteint les quarts de finale, remportant son match du premier tour en trois manches, puis celui des huitièmes de finale en deux manches, avant de s'incliner en deux manches en quarts de finale.
Les récipiendaires du titre d'athlète de la semaine à McGill reçoivent un chèque-cadeau du restaurant Poulet Rouge, qui offre des repas santé depuis 2017. Les étudiants bénéficient également d'un rabais de 15 pour cent au restaurant Poulet Rouge situé sur le campus de McGill sur présentation d'une carte étudiante valide.
