MONTREAL — Lily Rose Chatila scored a team-high 21 points and Emilia Diaz-Ruiz added 18 as McGill held off Concordia 69–64 in RSEQ women's university basketball, Thursday night at the John Dore Court. The win improved the Martlets' record to 2–2, while the Stingers fell to 1–3.
Concordia led 19–17 after the first quarter, but McGill took charge with a 26–11 second-quarter surge to build a 43–30 halftime advantage. The Martlets extended their lead to 61–46 through three quarters before weathering a late Stingers rally in the fourth to secure the five-point victory. The team's second quarter output was the team's highest since Feb. 22, 2025 when they tallied a school 32 points in an 86-37 win at UQAM.
McGill, which held a 39–31 edge in rebounds, shot 43.9 per cent from the floor, compared to Concordia's 33.9 per cent. The Martlets went 13-for-19 from the line, compared to the Stingers who drained 18 of 29 attempts.
Chatila went 7-for-12 from the field, including two from beyond the arc, and made all five of her free throws. Diaz-Ruiz hit 8-of-10 shots with seven rebounds, while Erica Simeone added five points, five boards and two blocks. Emma-Jane Scotten chipped in seven points, four rebounds and three assists, and Katie Rathwell contributed six points.
The Martlets scored 34 points in the paint and capitalized on 25 points off 16 Concordia turnovers.
Serena Tchida led the Stingers with 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Victoria Lawrence and Angela Batrla each added 10. McGill's bench outscored Concordia's reserves 12–6.
The Martlets improved to 91–94 all-time against the Stingers since the rivalry began in 1975. McGill will host division-leading Laval (4–0) on Saturday at 4 p.m., while Concordia welcomes winless UQAM (0–3) on Nov. 27.

Concordia menait 19-17 après le premier quart-temps, mais McGill a pris les commandes avec une poussée de 26-11 au deuxième quart-temps pour prendre l'avantage 43-30 à la mi-temps. Les Martlets ont prolongé leur avance à 61-46 après trois quarts-temps avant de résister à une remontée tardive des Stingers au quatrième quart-temps pour s'assurer la victoire avec cinq points d'avance. La performance de l'équipe au deuxième quart était la plus élevée depuis le 22 février 2025, lorsqu'elle avait marqué 32 points dans une victoire de 86-37 à l'UQAM.
McGill, qui a dominé 39-31 au chapitre des rebonds, a réussi 43,9 % de ses tirs, comparativement à 33,9 % pour Concordia. Les Martlets ont réussi 13 tirs sur 19 depuis la ligne, contre 18 sur 29 pour les Stingers.
Chatila a réussi 7 tirs sur 12, dont deux à trois points, et a marqué ses cinq lancers francs. Diaz-Ruiz a réussi 8 tirs sur 10 et a capté sept rebonds, tandis qu'Erica Simeone a ajouté cinq points, cinq rebonds et deux contres. Emma-Jane Scotten a ajouté sept points, quatre rebonds et trois passes décisives, et Katie Rathwell a contribué six points.
Les Martlets ont marqué 34 points dans la raquette et ont capitalisé sur 25 points provenant de 16 revirements de Concordia.
