MONTREAL — Zou Boithias scored a game-high 26 points on the strength of five treys as Bishop's defeated McGill 75–55 in RSEQ women's university basketball, Saturday afternoon at Love Competition Hall.
The Gaiters improved to 2–1, while the Martlets fell to 1–2. Despite the loss, McGill continues to hold a narrow edge in the all-time rivalry, with a 90–87 record in 177 meetings since the series began in 1971.
Bishop's led 17–9 after the opening quarter, but McGill regrouped with a strong second frame, outscoring the visitors 21–13 to narrow the gap to 30–30 at halftime. The Martlets tied the score five times over the first three quarters, but each time the Gaiters responded, using a 26–17 third quarter and a 19–8 fourth to seal the 20-point victory.
The Gaiters made the most of their trips to the line, converting 26 of 29 free throws (89.7 per cent), compared to McGill's 13-for-18 performance.
Erica Simeone came off the bench to led the Martlets in scoring for the second straight game, with 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Teammate Emilia Diaz-Ruiz added 10 points and seven boards. Emma-Jane Scotten registered seven points and eight rebounds, and Daniella Mbengo and Lily Rose Chatila each scored six. McGill trailed just 53–47 late in the third before Bishop's pulled away with a 22–8 run to finish.
Boithias was dominant for Bishop's, connecting on 8-of-12 shots and all five of her free throws, while Shaylan Greaves contributed 18 points and seven rebounds. Eve Atchampone added 13 points, and Phania Desir collected nine boards.
BU shot 42 per cent from the floor and 46.7 from three-point range, while McGill hit 33.9 per cent overall and 26.7 from beyond the arc.
Next up, McGill visits Concordia on Nov. 20 (6 p.m.), while Bishop's travels to UQAM on Nov. 22 (2 p.m.).

Les Gaiters ont amélioré leur fiche à 2-1, tandis que les Martlets ont chuté à 1-2. Malgré cette défaite, McGill conserve un léger avantage dans cette rivalité historique, avec un bilan de 90-87 en 177 rencontres depuis le début de la série en 1971.
Bishop's menait 17-9 après le premier quart-temps, mais McGill s'est ressaisi avec un deuxième quart-temps solide, dépassant les visiteurs 21-13 pour réduire l'écart à 30-30 à la mi-temps.
