MONTREAL – Brooke Ledevehat poured in a game-high 21 points to pace the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks to a 79-74 victory over the McGill Martlets in women's preseason basketball action Sunday afternoon at Love Competition Hall.

Memorial led 22-16 after the opening quarter, 47-39 at the half and 64-57 after three stanzas. The Martlets forced 23 Memorial turnovers but were hampered by 19 of their own and went cold in the final frame, hitting just 20 per cent from the field.

Ledevehat, who shot 7-for-10 from the floor and drained five of seven from beyond the arc, led a well-balanced Memorial offence that saw three starters hit double figures. Carly Norris contributed 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Serena Phillips added 16 points. .

For the Martlets, Seyna Diggs led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Daniella Mbengo, Emma-Jane Scotten and Lily Rose Chatila each scored 12, while Aicha Hassan-Omar added 11. McGill's bench produced 47 of the team's 74 points.

The Sea-Hawks shot an efficient 55.1 per cent from the field, including 62.5 per cent from three-point range (10-for-16), and 83.3 per cent from the line (15-for-18). Despite committing 29 turnovers, Memorial capitalized on its shooting touch to offset McGill's second-chance advantage.

McGill shot 35.7 per cent from the floor, 30.3 per cent from three-point range (10-for-33), and 66.7 per cent from the stripe (14-for-21).

Memorial, which improved to 3-4 in preseason play, opens its AUS conference schedule Oct. 24 at home against St. Francis Xavier. McGill (4-3) begins RSEQ regular-season play Nov. 8 at Laval.
