LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Etienne Gagnon posted a double-double as Bishop's habded visiting McGill a 75-60 setback in men's basketball at the Mitchell Gymnasium, Saturday.

The result was McGill's fourth consecutive loss and also gave the Gaiters a four-game sweep of the season series with a youthful Redbirds squad.

Bishop's improved it's third-place record to 6-5, four points behind Concordia (8-2) in the RSEQ conference.  Fifth-place McGill dropped to 1-9 and remained two points behind Laval (2-7) in the race for the final playoff berth.

The teams were tied 11-11 after the first quarter but Bishop's slowly pulled away from the redbirds, leading 32-26 at halftime and 52-40 after three, then winning the final frame 23-20.

The Gaiters had a huge 51-39 edge in rebounding but McGill kept the score within reach by shooting 21-for-28 from the free-throw line, compared to the gaiters, who made nine of 14 freebies.

Sean Herscovitch, a shifty, 5-foot-9 senior from Montreal and Joshua Soifer, a law school freshman from Regina, Sask., paced the Redbirds attack with identical performances of 10 ponts and two rebounds. Ashton Meece added nine points off the bench and senior Cameron Elliot added eight points while pulling down six boards.

Other leading Gaiters in scoring were Charles Robert (14) and Yve Nsanzinshuti (10).

McGill shot a feeble 28.8 per cent from the field (17/59), including a 5-for-23 effort from beyond the arc. Bishop's shot 40.8 per cent from the floor (29/71) and connected on nine of 14 from trey territory.
