MONTREAL – Goalkeepers
Sophie Guilmette and
Jenny Harrison were picture perfect as McGill and Sherbrooke battled to a 0-0 tie in women's university soccer at Percival Molson Stadium, Friday.
Guilmette, who stands 5-foot-6, made three saves to register her ninth career whitewash in 20 career games for the Martlets. The native of Ahuntsic, Que., is a second-year master's student in kinesiology at McGill after playing three seasons at Vanderbilt.
Harrison, a freshman, made five saves in the Sherbrooke net to collect her second clean sheet of the season.
There have only been two scoreless draws in the RSEQ this season and both involved the Martlets, who have now achieved that feat in consecutive games. McGill sits third in the eight-team RSEQ conference with a 3-2-2 record at the half-way mark in the schedule. The Vert & Or is in sixth place at 2-3-2.
Both teams return to the pitch on Sunday (Sept. 24) at 3:30 p.m., when Sherbrooke hosts division-leading Laval (6-0-0) and McGill travels to fifth-place Concordia (2-3-2).
