LENNOXVILLE, QUE –
Victoria Gauna registered a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds as Bishop's defeated McGill 80-51 in RSEQ women's basketball at the Mitchell Gym, Thursday.
The result avenged McGill's 57-53 victory in the last rendezvous on Nov. 9.
The Gaiters, who dressed only seven players, had a 39-25 advantage in rebounding. They led 22-9 after the first quarter and took a 40-30 advantage into the intermission. Bishop's won the third quarter 14-12, then coasted to a 26-9 margin in the final stanza.
Seyna Diggs and
Emma-Jane Scotten paced the Martlets with 12 and 10 points, respectively, while
Daniella Mbengo added nine.
Other Bishop's players to reach double digits included
Kalina Alexander-Renaud (20),
Marianne Bothias (17) and
Jasmine Martel (10).
The Gaiters shot 50.9 per cent from the field (29/57), went 9-for-24 from the arc and posted an impressive 13-for-13 performance from the line. The Martlets shot 35.6 per cent from the floor (21/59), went 5-for-19 from downtown and 4-for-5 from the line.
McGill (2-3) will host UQAM (0-4) on Nov. 25 in a 2 p.m. matinee at Love Competition Hall. Bishop's (2-3) will close out their semester at Concordia (3-1) on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.
