Maxime Bouchard scored twice and set up another, while goalkeeper
Felix Clapin registered a six-save shutout as UQTR blanked visiting McGill 3-0 in RSEQ men's soccer at Stade CAPS, Sunday.
Trois-Rivieres, the defending national champions from 2019, improved to 2-0, while McGill dropped to 1-2.
Bouchard tallied what proved to be the game-winner in just the seventh minute of play. He made it 2-0 in the 25th minute, then assisted on
Vincent Lamy's marker in the 70th minute.
The Redbirds had a 6-5 advantage in shots as goalkeeper
Victor Henry made three saves and was saddled with the loss.
Bouchard took the coaches player-of-the-game honours for UQTR while
Jean-Marc Yao was named for McGill.
Coming in the wake of a combined 14 cards issued over the previous two McGill contests, this game was free of any major infractions.
McGill (1-2) will play the undefeated Montreal Carabins (2-0) at Stade CEPSUM on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 8:15 p.m. UQTR (2-0) will host winless Concordia (0-1-1) at the same time.
