MONTREAL -- Mehdi Ibn-Brahim of Laval, Que., headed a trio from McGill University to merit all-star status as the men's soccer major award winners were announced by the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec.

Ibn-Brahim earned a berth on the RSEQ first team, while Dalin Saheb and Ramdane Tafer, both Montrealers, made the second squad, in voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches.

Also honoured was teammate Julian Huster of West Vancouver, B.C., who made the conference's all-rookie team.

Ibn-Brahim, a 5-foot-7, 160-pound striker born in Casablanca, tallied eight goals in 10 games to become the team's first player to capture the conference goal-scoring title since Massimo Di Ioia in 2013. It was the third all-star honour in four years for Ibn-Brahim, a 23-year-old mathematics senior who also added an assist and concluded a brilliant varsity career at McGill with 24 regular season goals over his four years.

Saheb, a six-foot, 168-pound forward, tied for sixth place in the Quebec league scoring race. The 21-year-old software engineering junior scored five goals and added two assists in 10 contests.

Tafer is a 22-year-old senior in medical school. The six-foot, 173-pound midfielder went scoreless in nine games.

Huster, a six-foot, 176-pound rookie defender, dressed in all 12 games. He is an 18-year-old electrical engineering freshman out of Sentinel Secondary School in Vancouver.
