OTTAWA -- Andrew Chase registered a hat-trick, including two in overtime, as McGill rallied for a 10-8 road victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees in a Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association game, Saturday.

Ottawa led 2-1 after the first quarter but the Redmen pulled even at 5-5 by halftime, then won the third quarter 2-1. But the Gee-Gees outscored the visitors 3-2 in the fourth stanza to force two additional four-minute periods.

"We had a lot of good things happen tonight, the team played with great energy," said McGill head coach Tim Murdoch, who is tasked with managing a massive 41-man roster. "We prepared quite differently for this game and had a really hard two-hour practice on Friday night. We treated it like a game and it was the best practice of the year. Mentally and physically, we were really ready for this one."

Trailing 9-8 and killing a penalty with less than five minutes to go in regulation, Seth Obadia scored his second of the game, shorthanded, to force overtime. Brady Martin put the Gee-Gees ahead 10-9 with his third of the game just a minute into the first extra session but Chase replied with back-to-back markers, to register his third winning tally in as many games -- each of them in the dying minutes of play -- followed by an insurance goal from Gardie Herr.

Chase, who added an assist for a four-point soiree, was one of seven McGill players to find the back of the net. Liam MacDonald collected a game-high five points, two of them goals. Other marksmen included Maxime Murdoch with two, plus singles by Kieran McKay and Patrick Turner.

Leading the Gee-Gees was Frederick Hartley, who scored four in a losing cause. Rounding out the scoring was Spencer Corkery, Liam McCrory and Jeff Brett.

McGill goaltender Michael Gallo kicked aside 23 of 33 shots for the victory. Ottawa's Isaac Lavallee was beaten 12 times for the loss.

The undefeated Redmen sit atop the CUFLA East Division standings with a 3-0 record. They will remain in the nation's capital overnight to play winless Carleton (0-3) on Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
