MONTREAL - Madeleine McKenzie and Chama Sedki scored less than three minutes apart as visiting Concordia rallied to surprise McGill 2-1 in RSEQ women's soccer at Percival Molson Stadium, Thursday.

The result extended McGill's winless streak to 0-3-1 and was the second time in two weeks that the higher-seeded Martlets had fallen to their cross-town rivals, in the wake of a 3-0 loss at Concordia on Sept. 23.

Tia Lore, a senior defender from Richmond, B.C., had given McGill a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute of play. Then everything collapsed midway through the second stanza when McKenzie struck paydirt on a penalty-kick in the 61st minute and Sedki potted the game-winner in the 63rd minute.

"It was a very difficult loss to accept," said McGill head coach Jose Valdes. "It was one of our better games played this season in terms of our generating attack, getting into the box and creating opportunities to score. Unfortunately, we were not clean in those areas and could not capitalize. We were in control in the first half but in the second half, had two unfortunate plays against us. We missed a couple of good chances and then the nerves set in. Concordia was awarded a penalty-kick and our 'keeper made the save but the shooter put the rebound in. On their second goal, we had a mental mistake when one of our players thought the ball was out of bounds and she touched it, which resulted in a hand ball. Concordia was awarded a free kick and they converted that into another goal."

The Martlets had an 11-6 margin in attempted shots, a 4-3 edge in shots on net and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Gabriela Angoso-Jimenez kicked aside three of four shots to merit the victory, while Sarah Dubois was credited with three saves and the loss.

With four games left to play, the Martlets (4-4-2) sit precariously perched in the fourth and final playoff berth, four points behind third-place UQTR (5-1-3) and one point ahead of fifth-place UQAM (4-5-1). Concordia (3-6-1) sits sixth in the sevn team Quebec league, three points in arrears of UQAM and four behind McGill.
