WATERLOO, Ont. --
Constanza Martinez-Ramirez, a native of Chile, scored four goals and goaltender
Olivia Lockbaum of Worcester, Mass., earned the shutout as the McGill women's hockey team finally got the monkey off their back and cruised to a 6-0 victory over McMaster on a cold, overcast day to finish seventh of eight teams at the OUA championship on Warrior Field in Waterloo, Sunday.
It was the first taste of victory this season for the Martlets who finished with a 1-17 record overall, including an 0-12 mark in regular season play and a 1-2 record in the post-season. The seventh-place finish matched the team's OUA tourney finish for the third straight year, culminating with a win over McMaster each time.
McGill, which only scored three goals in league play this year, doubled that total in their season finale. They led 3-0 at halftime and added another trey in the second half.
Kasey Boyle, a management senior from Victoria, B.C., was credited with the winning tally at the two-minute mark.
Martinez-Ramirez, a doctorate student in pathology, then tallied a natural hat-trick, with goals in the 13th,22nd and 41st minutes to make it 4-0. She tallied her fourth marker in the 61st minute.
McGill's other marksman was
Tania Iskandar, a management senior from Greenwich, Conn., who made it 5-0 in the 56th minute.
