MONTREAL -- Three players registered hat-tricks as McGill sunk the visiting Nipissing University Lakers 20-6 in men's lacrosse at Percival Molson Stadium, Saturday.
Goose Bolton, a senior from Darien, Conn., potted five goals, while junior
Alexander Linton of Ridgewood, N.J., struck for four and Montrealer
Maxime Murdoch, also a junior, posted a three-goal performance.
Fifteen Redmen registered points in a contest that extended McGill's unblemished record to three straight wins over the Lakers since they joined the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association last year.
The Redmen jumped off to a fast start over the road-weary Lakers, who bussed in from North Bay, Ont., and won 16-15 in Ottawa the previous night. McGill scored the first seven goals and led 7-2 after the opening quarter. Both teams tightened up in the second, with each netting only one apiece as the Redmen took an 8-3 advantage into halftime. McGill added seven unanswered goals in the third to lead 15-3, then substituted liberally in the final stanza and outscored the visitors 5-3.
Bolton, who also picked up an assist to finish with six points, tallied the game's first four markers by the 7:22 mark. Murdoch then followed with a natural hat-trick of his own with goals at 8:38, 10:37 and 13:49. Then it was Linton's turn. The third-year midfielder tallied late in the second quarter, then added three more in the final period.
Illinois native
Patrick Brandell and
Cal Callahan added two apiece. Brandell, a former NCAA Div.1 commit, contributed with four assists to finish with six points. Rounding out the McGill scoring with one apiece was

Cyrus Wickersham,
Colton Campbell,and
Emile Sassone-Lawless (1G, 3A), a fifth-year senior from Ithica., N.Y., who reached a milestone with his 100th career assist on the game's first goal and now has 102 helpers.

Scott Dominey struck for two goals apiece, while

Jack Drinkwalter contributed one apiece.
McGill played all three goalies, anchored by two-time CUFLA goalie of the Year

David Pelliccione (3 shots, 0 goals) in the third quarter and
Michael Gallo (5 shots, 3 goals) in the final stanza.
