MONTREAL --
Mehdi Ibn-Brahim of Montreal scored thw inning goal and assisted on the insurance marker as McGill blanked the Concordia Stingers 3-0 in RSEQ men's soccer, Sunday, at Concordia Stadium.
McGill went up 2-0 in the first half, then was awarded a bonus goal in the 78th minute when a Stingers player accidently re-directed the ball into his own net.
Ibn-Brahim, a 5-foot-6, 155-pound sophomore forward, opened the scoring in just the second minute of play, then assisted on a goal by midfielder
Michael McIntyre of Pte. Claire, Que., in the 40th minute. McIntyre earned Game MVP honours for the Redmen, while defender
Olivier Georges earned similar honours for the Stingers.
Rookie McGill goalkeeper
Theo Farineau of France was called upon to make three saves for the clean sheet and earned his second career win.
Cameron Rae stopped six of nine shots in defeat.
Concordia (0-5-0) takes Sherbrooke (0-5-0) on Sept. 29, while the Redmen (2-3-1) will visit Sherbrooke on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
