PETERBOROUGH, Ont -- Goose Bolton netted a hat-track and Emile Sassone-Lawless scored the game-winner as McGill erased a late three-goal deficit for a 10-8 victory over the Trent Excalibur in men's lacrosse, Sunday.

The result improved McGill's unblemished record to 5-0 atop the East Division standings of the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association and handed second-place Trent (3-1) their first loss of the season.

The Excalibur led 3-2 after the opening quarter, 5-4 at halftime and 8-5 heading into the final frame, which McGill won 5-0.

"I told the guys after the game that this was one of the top 10 most satisfying wins in my 15 years of coaching at McGill," said Redmen bench boss Tim Murdoch. "Trent is a real power and for us to make the trip to Peterborough and come-from-behind like that in the last quarter was a real character-building experience."

The goal that sparked the comeback was the first one of the fourth quarter, by rookie Patrick Brandell -- his second of the game -- that narrowed the gap to 8-6. That play was initiated by McGill defender Tanner Baldin, who forced a turnover for the seventh time in the game. Baldin passed the ball up to Maxime Murdoch, who relayed it to Bolton. The McGill sniper had a two-on-one and flipped the ball to Brandell who found the net.

Just two minutes later, Alex Linton connected on a power-play to make it 8-7 with 14:44 remaining. Murdoch tied the score at 8-8 on another PP goal with 11:23 left in the game. Sassone-Lawless netted the go-ahead goal with 8:18 left and freshman Hunter Zawado nailed the insurance marker with 91 seconds left in the contest.

Rounding out the McGill scoring was Liam Macdonald in the third quarter.

Trent marksmen included Nick Karam, Danny Michel and Courtland Black-Araujo, with two apiece. Singles went to Travis Szabolcs and Adam Kitchen.

Goaltender William Waesche kicked aside 11 of 19 shots for the win, while Kyle Holton saved nine of 19 in a losing cause.

McGill (5-0) has another big game on tap this week when they head to Lennoxville,Que., to play the undefeated Bishop's Gaiters (4-0).
