TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Que. -- Mohamed Kleit of Outremont, Que., scored the game-tying goal as McGill rallied to tied the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières 1-1 in the RSEQ men's soccer season opener, Friday, at Stade Gilles-Doucet.

The draw broke a three-game losing streak for McGill in Trois-Rivières, dating back to a 4-0 win on Oct. 20, 2013.

The scoring began and ended early, with Patriotes defender Adam Taïf finding the back of the net in just the second minute of play.
Kleit, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound forward, responded less than a minute later to even the game.

Michael McIntyre, a fifth-year senior midfielder from Pte. Claire, Que., was named Game MVP for the Redmen, while goalkeeper Dominic Provost merited the honour  for UQTR with a five-save performance.

His McGill counterpart Antoine Marchal, a 6-foot-3, 186-pound sophomore from Montreal, made four stops to earn the tie. The Redmen (0-0-1) host Sherbrooke (0-1-0) in their home opener at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 at Percival Molson Stadium. The Patriotes (0-0-1) visit Laval (0-0-0) that evening.
