MONTREAL -- Goalkeeper
Antoine Marchal of Montreal, posted a seven-save shutout as visiting McGill battled the Montreal Carabins to a hard-fought 0-0 draw in men's university soccer at Terrain Vincent d'Indy, Friday.
It was the first blemish on Montreal's record this season as the Carabins dropped to 9-0-1. The tie snapped McGill's five-game losing streak against the cross-town rival Carabins, dating back to another 0-0 stalemate on Oct. 19, 2014 at Percival Molson Stadium.
Marchal, a management sophomore who measures 6-foot-3 and 186 pounds, was starting for the first time in seven games, since he was charged with the loss in a 3-2 setback at Laval on Sept. 17.
Despite Marchal's performance,
Michael McIntyre was named by the Carabins coaching staff as McGill's Game MVP.
Omar Kreim received similiar honours for UdeM.
Montreal had a 9-4 edge in corner kicks in a physical battle that featured 35 fouls (24 to McGill) and five yellow cards -- three by the Carabins.

Louis-Philippe Simard was called upon to mke only one save for his whitewash.
The result kept McGill's playoff hopes alive. With two games remaining on the calendar, the fifth-place Redmen are 3-4-2 and sit two points in arrears of the final playoff berth, currently held by UQTR (4-3-2). McGill, which lost their season series (0-1-1) to the Patriotes, will host sixth-place Concordia (1-7-1) on Oct. 27, then close out the regular season at third-place UQAM (5-3-1) on Oct. 29.
