WATERLOO, Ont. --
Kasey Boyle and
Tania Iskandar each scored as McGill battled Waterloo to a 2-2 draw in OUA women's field hockey at Warrior Field on Saturday.
The draw garnered the Martlets their first point after beginning the season with seven straight losses. The two goals scored also halted the McGill's streak of being shutout for seven consecutive games.
Boyle, a management sophomore from Victoria, opened the scoring in the 27th minute.
Mehakdeep Mangat replied for the Warriors in the 33rd minute to even the score.
Iskandar, a midfielder from Vancouver, regained the lead for McGill in the 52nd minute but a 66th-minute marker by Waterloo's
Jenna Ridpath put a damper on the party for the winless Martlets. Nonetheless, Rome wasn't built in a day and a tie is a good place to start.
Goalkeeper
Hannah Moore, an English sophomore from Chelsea, Mich., was credited with the tie for McGill, while
Hilary Neeb guarded the Warriors' net.
The last-place Martlets (0-7-1) have four games remaining before playoffs. They return to the pitch with a doubleheader on Sunday, Oct. 9. McGill plays York (5-1-2) at 9 a.m., before a rematch against Waterloo (1-5-3) at 12:30 p.m. Both contests are slated to be played at Warrior Field.
