MONTREAL: -- Jessica Bunker scored the game-winner just two minutes into the second half and goalkeeper Marie-Joelle Vandala eaned a one-save shutout as division-leading Laval blanked McGill 1-0 in women's soccer at Percival Molson Stadium, Sunday.

With two games remaining on the schedule, the result officially eliminated the fifth-place Martlets from earning a playoff berth in the eight-team RSEQ conference. McGill, which dropped to 4-6-2 has 14 points in the standings and cannot catch fourth-place UQAM, which has an eight-point lead. Martlets goalkeeper Cassandra Fafalios kept the game close throughout, saving eight of nine shots.

McGill, decimated by injuries all season long, will now play for pride against two cross-town rivals, second-place Montreal Carabins (10-1-1) on Oct. 28 at Molson Stadium (6 pm).and sixth-place Concordia on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m on the Loyola Campus pitch.

Laval, which owns an 11-0-1 record will close out their campaign against UQTR (Oct 28) and Bishop's (Oct. 30).
