MONTREAL – Five different players found the back of the net as the McGill men's soccer team cruised to a lopsided 5-0 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or in RSEQ university soccer play at Molson Stadium, Sunday.
 
It was a complete reversal of McGill's effort from their season-opener, a 4-0 loss at Concordia last Friday.
 
The Redmen led 2-0 at halftime with late goals from midfielders Henri Ashe-Taylor, a management senior from London (England) and Mohamed Kleit, an electrical engineering junior from Outremont, Que., in the final minute..

McGill put the game out of reach early in the second half, with a three-goal outburst in a 21-minute span. Sophomore forward Conor O'Loughlin of Richmond, B.C., struck pay-dirt in the 53rd minute, followed by Belarus native Valentin Radevich (64th) and Antoine Chauvel of Paris (France), who converted a pass from freshman Takeshi Kakudo of Tokyo in the 74th minute.

Veteran 'keeper Max Leblond started for McGill and collected the victory, making three saves before being relieved of duty in the 76th minute by Thomas Daechsel who did not face one shot in the final 14 minutes.

Guillaume Proulx took the loss for Sherbrooke, conceding five goals on 10 shots.

The Redmen, who had a 17-9 advantage in fouls committed, led 10-3 in shots on goal and 9-6 in corner kicks.

McGill is 1-1 in the RSEQ conference and will hit the road next weekend for games at UQTR (Sept. 18, 8 pm) and UQAM (Sept. 20, 4 pm). Sherbrooke, which has been outscored 9-0 this season, dropped to 0-2 and will host the Montreal Carabins on Sept. 20.
