McGill's Mounicot behind bench when Quebec hosts France national team, June 3

Marc Mounicot

MONTREAL -- Marc Mounicot, head coach of the McGill University men's soccer team, will join Rudy Doliscat's coaching staff behind the bench when the Québec provincial women's team meets the France national team in an international friendly at the Laval Bois de Boulogne soccer complex on Wednesday, June 3 at 3 p.m.

France, currently third in the FIFA rankings, is holding a training camp in Laval, Que., from May 30 to June 5, prior to departing for Moncton where they open their FIFA Women's World Cup schedule against sixth-ranked England on June 9. France finished fourth at both the 2011 World Cup in Germany and the 2012 London Olympics.

Team Québec is an all-star squad composed of players from the national training centre in Laval, as well as from the Laval Comets and the Quebec Dynamo, the latter two teams which play in the W-league, a North American women's developmental organization.

Mounicot is a native of Saint-Jean-de-Luz in southwestern France, just across the Nivelle river from the town of Ciboure, where French national team head coach Philippe Bergeroo was born.

Mounicot was appointed head coach of the McGill Redmen soccer team in Jan. 2013 after 15 seasons as head coach of the McGill women's team. With the Martlets, he owned a 222-72-54 overall coaching record (.716) in 348 games, including a 149-21-33 regular season mark in 203 league contests (.815).

He was inducted to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 13, 2011 after a stellar playing career. Mounicot captained the Redmen to a CIS national championship in his last game, at Halifax in 1997. A few months later, he was appointed head coach at McGill in 1998.

Voted Quebec conference coach of the year four times and CIS coach of the year in 2009, he  led the Martlets to eight Quebec titles and four medals in eight appearances at the CIS national championships, winning two silvers and a pair of bronzes.
